Editing

I offer editing services for scholars, writers and organisations that aim for a high-level of written English language expression. My expertise spans academic theses, organisational reports and website content.

A native English langauge speaker, I edit dissertations, theses and books to enable writers to present their work with the fluency and clarity of a native speaker.

I hold a PhD in anthropology as well as two decades of writing and editing experience for a range of clients.

The editing services I offer include:

  • Proofreading – checking for grammatical, spelling and punctuation mistakes
  • Polishing language – finessing unclear or awkward sentences, improving expression
  • Ensuring logical argumentation, suggestions to improve argumentation and consistency
  • Formatting to specific citation and referencing styles (APA, Chicago)

Testimonials

Lesley is a fast and precise editor. She balances a thorough approach and helpful reformulations with a feeling for the writer’s personal style. I felt the text was still ‘mine’ after her edit. I recommend Lesley to anyone looking for an empathetic, fast and meticulous editor.

Lesley Branagan is a terrific editor, a masterful writer and theoretically conscious thinker. Her quick, methodical and insightful suggestions elevated my graduate study proposal that I had admission offers from multiple universities. She is a gem and exponentially brilliant in her work. Thank you Lesley.

Lesley has offered a proofreading service sensitive to the requirements of my home discipline Anthropology. I am very thankful that she was able not only to correct formal mistakes, but also to suggest ways to “speak” the language of my future audiences.

Stefanie Mauksch
Lecturer, Department of Ethnologie, Leipzig University

While paying respect to my own writing style, Lesley’s professional and elegant work as copy editor and proofreader has been of fundamental importance in making my research work more understandable, and in facilitating its discussion and acceptance in academia and peer-reviewed journals.
